WHAT IS A NATURE PRESCHOOL?

The Natural Start Alliance defines a nature preschool as "a school that [puts] nature at the heart of the program, [is] based on high quality early childhood education and environmental education practices, and [lays] a foundation for environmental literacy."

WHAT TIME OF YEAR DOES NOLA NATURE SCHOOL OPERATE?

NOLA Nature School operates throughout the year from September until June and takes a hiatus during the height of the summer heat in July and August.

WHAT AGES DOES NOLA NATURE SCHOOL SERVE?

Our school day program serves children ages 3 and up who are potty trained all the way to second grade.

Our Saturday classes are open to children between the ages of 3 (potty trained) and 8.

ARE THERE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE?

Tuition is offered on a sliding scale for those who meet our criteria. This is determined with an in-person interview.

ARE MEALS PROVIDED?

Wholesome snacks--whole grain bread, dairy, fresh seasonal fruit--and water are provided each day.* (Due to COVID we currently offering pre-packaged snacks.)

WHAT CLOTHES AND GEAR WILL MY CHILD NEED?

We walk a lot and are not afraid of tree branches, grasses, puddles, bugs, and mud. Check out our gear list for what your child will need to bring.

WHAT ABOUT WHEN IT RAINS/IS COLD/IS HOT?

When it rains we will have class. When it is cold, we will have class. When it is hot, we will have class (and water and shade).

We generally follow Orleans Parish in determining school closings. However, official communications will be sent out via email and Brightwheel.
