At NOLA Nature School, we believe Summer should feel like Summer-
full of barefoot adventures, sprinkler splashes, & the magic of unstructured play!
Our summer camp at The Nest invites children ages 3 to 6 to experience the simple joys of childhood- the ones that authentically build confidence, creativity, & connection.

Play, Wonder & Exploration
Campers spend their days:
🦎 Chasing lizards & carefully catching bugs
💦 Splashing in sprinklers
⛺ Building cozy blanket tents & pillow forts
🎶 Singing songs, listening to stories & playing dress-up
🪵 Climbing, building with blocks & inventing their own games
These playful moments aren’t just fun- they support healthy development!
For example- running barefoot strengthens balance and sensory awareness. Splashing in sprinklers builds resilience as children embrace unexpected surprises. Chasing lizards sharpens reflexes & sparks curiosity, while carefully catching bugs nurtures patience, observation skills, & respect for nature.
Social-Emotional Growth
At NOLA Nature School, we know childhood is filled with big feelings- & learning how to manage them takes practice. Our teachers gently guide campers through friendship challenges, frustration, & moments of uncertainty with empathy and encouragement. Through storytelling, group play, & thoughtful conversations, campers build confidence in expressing themselves, collaborating with others, & practicing kindness.
Creativity in Action
We’re proud to offer process-based art projects inspired by the Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) approach. In this model, children are treated as artists- free to explore their own ideas, experiment with materials, & create meaningful works of their own. Instead of focusing on a stream of “picture worthy” projects to take home or “perfect” end results, TAB emphasizes the creative journey- removing the pressure to produce & instead helping children build independence, curiosity, & pride in their self-expression!
